We have received numerous reports from across the district that principals and administrators are putting pressure on educators to respond favorably to the district’s staff survey about physically reporting to school, which has changed forms several times this week alone.
We call on Austin ISD to stop intimidating, threatening, and pressuring its employees into saying yes to in-person learning. Until public health data tells us it is safe to reopen our schools, we should provide virtual instruction only, away from school buildings.
Furthermore, our classified employees who perform duties essential to district operations should be compensated with HERO Pay (double-time). Anything less is unacceptable.
We will not be bullied. We will not be intimidated. We are fighting for the safety of every student, employee, and community member that calls AISD home.
